January January is normally quite a cold month of the year and temperatures can drop to -20 degrees but the average temperature is normally about -6 degrees. Snow cover is good making skiing very enjoyable February February is one of the coldest months with average daily temperatures falling between -5 and -15 degrees. Up to the first half of the month it normally snows quite a lot and skiing conditions are excellent. March In March winds are created by the snow-covered mountains and temperatures range between 5 and 13 degrees. Snow conditions for skiing are still extremely good. April The weather in April is very changeable and often impossible to predict. There may be cold days with strong winds but warmer days with temperatures rising up to 20 degrees are not unusual | 
May From the second half of May until the first half in June the weather becomes more unstable with higher changes of rain. Average daily temperatures range between 10 and 20 degrees. June The average temperature in June is around 22 degrees. The air is warmer making mountain hiking and walking very pleasurable. July The weather in July tends to be quite hot with daily maximums ranging between 25-35 degrees. This is the time to enjoy the mountains. The days are long and the nights are short allowing you to get fit with more challenging mountain walking and sports. August August is the hottest month of the year. It is not uncommon for daily temperatures to reach 40 degees. When walking and hiking it is advisable to set off as early in the morning as possible. | 
September This is still a warm month for Bulgaria with average daily temperatures of 22 degrees at the beginning of the month falling to approx. 17 degrees towards the end. Mountain activities are most enjoyable at this time of the year. October Temperatures begin to fall in October and the average daily is around 10 degrees. October can be a rather confusing month where weather is concerned as it is not uncommon to have periods of very warm weather often known as 'gypsy summertime'. November From mid-November through to about mid-December the weather starts getting colder with a fair amount rain and fog. Average daily temperatures are around 10 degrees and can drop to -10 degrees at night. December December can be a very cold month with temperatures dropping to -20 degrees in higher mountain areas. Around Christmas time it is usually quite cold and often snows with some good ski conditions to be found on the higher slopes. |
